A Night of Prayers for Recovery
Light of Recovery began in response to the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake, carrying prayers for recovery. In 2026, the event served as the kickoff for the "Senjuin Revival Project" crowdfunding campaign to restore the main hall, bringing together participants from across Japan to light up the Noto night sky with prayers and wishes.
The "Sora Bon Lantern" festival has been held in the Sora district. The temple grounds decorated with Jomon-fired lampshades and up to 10,000 candles are the community's pride and the origin of the Light of Recovery.
Program
Noh Offering (Hosho School Head & Performers)
Kazuhide Hosho, the 20th-generation head of the Hosho school of Noh, visited Noto with fellow performers to offer Noh chant and dance. Following a chant from "Dojoji," four dances were performed: "Chikubushima," "Tamura," "Taema," and "Shojo." Most of these pieces are deeply connected to Senju Kannon, Senjuin's principal deity.

Candlelit Night (3,000 candles)
3,000 candles filling the temple grounds brought a message of recovery to light in the darkness.
Senjuin Projection Mapping
Vivid images were projected onto the exterior and interior of the main hall. The old wooden architecture transformed into a canvas of light, creating a fantastical space.
Jazz Band Live (Meiji Gakuin University "Team Kagayama")
The student jazz band "Team Kagayama" from Meiji Gakuin University performed live on the temple grounds.
Sky Lanterns for Recovery (Limited to 100)
A limited 100 lanterns carrying prayers for recovery gently rose into the night sky. With the cooperation of the Japan Sky Lantern Association, the moment when all participants released their lanterns together was the climax of the event.
